Social Activities

A range of activities are available to those wishing to join in, these include TV quiz games, dominoes, connect 4 and scrabble. One to one activities are planned with each resident’s key worker to meet the specific needs of the individual, these tend to involve simple tasks like letter writing or walks to the village green or shops. We also organize various shows and themed evenings throughout the year, with events such as cheese and wine tasting proving very popular.

Birthdays are always celebrated with sherry, fruit juices and cake being served in the main lounge to everyone who wishes to attend.

Healthy Eating

Our menus have been devised based on the personal preferences and suggestions of residents, with all meals being prepared and cooked on site. All diets can be catered for, including diabetic and vegetarian. Meals can be taken in the main dining room, lounge or, if preferred, in the resident’s own room. A sample menu can be viewed on request.

Personal Services

A visiting hairdresser comes to the home every fortnight, a chiropodist visits every 5 to 6 weeks and Healthcall opticians visit every 6 months. All laundry is done on site free of charge, excluding dry cleaning. Newspapers are delivered daily, if required please ask and we will confirm prices.

Spiritual Support

The spiritual aspect of life is a vital element of residential care we provide at Elmfield. On arrival, we ask new residents if they would value spiritual support during their stay and we then do our best to help meet that need.

Visitors

We operate a completely open visiting policy and encourage residents to invite their family and friends to Elmfield, where they can join residents in the privacy of their own room, the conservatory or, when weather permits, take the opportunity to join them in the garden.

Short Stay/Respite Breaks

Subject to availability, we are happy to welcome short stay residents wishing to enjoy a break with us and sample the lifestyle at Elmfield House.
